How To Design Your Home On A Budget: 4 Budget-Friendly Redesigning Tips

In today’s economy, it might not be the most realistic idea to redesign your home into a lavish environment with all the amenities you’ve ever desired. Money can be tight and redesigning might be considered a luxury. But if you live in your home, you definitely deserve to enjoy it—and have some redesigning fun without breaking the bank. Here are five budget friendly redesigning tips that will help you improve your home appearance in easy, low-cost ways.

Budget-Friendly Tip #1: Shop at garage sales or consignment shops. The next time you are looking for an Oriental rug to spice up the living room, floral curtains for the kitchen, or a wood cabinet to improve the look of the hall, don’t run to your local furniture or antique store. Wait till you can shop at a garage sale. Not sure where the nearest one is? You can always look at online classified websites, like Craigslist.com, and search for garage sales in your area. Consignments shops are a great idea for finding the perfect little home knick-knacks, curtains, or other minor purchases.

Budget-Friendly Tip #2: Don’t buy: create and invite contributors. How would you like to see your own handiwork hanging up on that wall that looks a tad drab? If you don’t feel creative or honestly hate making crafts, make it fun by inviting friends and family over for a “redesigning session.” Not only will it be an enjoyable get together, but you’ll get interesting keepsakes to hang on the wall, too! You can find some great ideas for home designing crafts online.

Budget-Friendly Tip #3: Details, details, and more details. Improving your living room could be as simple as adding some fluffy neon-colored pillows to the couches. If you have paint colors on your walls that are less than exciting, add some wallpaper trim on the wall below the ceiling. You can buy these inexpensively at hardware stores. A simple little floral drop rug can improve the room. You can even change furniture around and switch the location of a few chairs to get a great look!

Budget-Friendly Tip #4: Less is more, and lighting plays a key. You don’t have to get a whole new room to achieve a great look. It could be as simple as taking out some of the clutter that’s gathered in the corners. Removing excessive furniture, knick-knacks, and anything else that takes up useless space can immensely improve the way a room looks. You’ll be surprised at the difference. Lighting is also very important. A room with a light amount of furniture and sun pouring in the windows will look beautiful, even if you did buy the drop rugs at Wal-Mart. Open your curtains on sunny days and have a few more windows installed if the light remains limited.
